About
The St Patrick's Day Massacre is an informal hill-climbing ride that began in 2013. To date we've raised over $150,000 for various causes including art, children and homelessness. This year we are raising money for UNICEF's children in Gaza and UNICEF's children in Ukraine . Additionally, you also have the option of donating to the SF-Marin Food Bank.Schedule - Departs 7:30AM, Sunday, March 16, 2025
The Massacre leaves across from Saints Peter and Paul church (666 Filbert St.) in North Beach. You have exactly 3 hours to complete as many Hawks as you can. The ride ends on top of Hawk Hill at precisely 10:30AM. The individuals with the most climbs (female and male) get their name on the trophy. You can also become a Friend of the Massacre and receive a medal by completing 9 Hawks (female) or 11 Hawks (male).Safety
Note that this is a casual ride, you participate at your own risk. Obey all rules of the road. We're here to have fun and raise money for some worthy causes, if you are a dangerous or overly competitive cyclist this is not for you!

Route
The Massacre leaves at 7:30AM, across from Saints Peter and Paul church (666 Filbert St.) in North Beach, with no set route to Hawk Hill. Typically, a faster and a slower group form on the way to the hill. After riding Conzelman Rd. to the top (Strava - Hawk Hill), riders turn around and descend via the roundabout to the intersection of McCullough Rd. and Bunker Rd. From there riders complete as many hill repeats (Strava - Hawk Hill From Bunker road) as possible before the 10:30AM cutoff. Each ascent is 605 feet in elevation and 1.4 miles in distance.Note the Massacre is about climbing not descending. Take your time on the descents, do not cross the yellow line, and observe the rules of the road (including the roundabout!). Please always stay to the right for both ascending and descending. Car traffic generally is light but it does get busier later in the day. Remember you participate at your own risk.
